The Hove Edge side thumped lowly visitors Prescot Cables 6-3 in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier’s First Division North, backing up Monday’s 2-1 cup win at Harrogate Railway.

They played some sparkling football to surge into a 6-1 lead, only to concede two goals in added time at the end.

Sam Corlett started and finished the scoring, giving the Merseysiders the lead on eight minutes.

Shaquille Clarke-Adams levelled from the edge of the box on 15 minutes and it was stalemate until approaching half time when an own goal was followed by a superb Ernest Boafa free-kick from 25 yards to take Town 3-1 up.

Ryan Hall struck twice in five minutes to put further daylight between the teams and Danny Naidole made it 6-1 with 10 minutes left, only for Matty West and Corlett to cut the deficit at the death.

Town are next in action at Lancaster City next Saturday.
