Mr Johnson says up to 10,000 fans could be back in stadia by mid-May as part of the government’s plans for the country to move out of lockdown.

The plan to ease lockdown requires four tests on vaccines, infection rates and new coronavirus variants to be met.

The third step will come from 17 May - if the data allows - and will see Uu to 10,000 spectators can attend the very largest outdoor seated venues like football stadiums.

“The turnstiles of our sports stadia will once again rotate,” said the Prime Minister.

Halifax’s final home game of the season against Chesterfield is due to be played on May 29, but there have been several postponements already this season, and further games that are called off could end up being moved to after May 17. Plus Town could also host a play-off game at The Shay depending on where they finish in the table.
