Getting back in the game

“I had 10 minutes and didn’t have a bad reaction, but it didn’t react too well.

“But I’m really on the up now and I’m hoping to train on Thursday.

“I’m in a better condition now than I was when I played the other week.

“I’m waiting on the results of my scan, and I don’t want to jinx it, but touch wood, hopefully I’ll be involved on Saturday.

“It’s so frustrating for me. To play all pre-season and then miss the first month, it’s ridiculous, it’s horrible.

“I’m still chirpy with all the lads but deep down I just want to be playing.

“But it’s a long season at the end of the day so hopefully when I get back and I can get myself in the team and start pushing on.

“I hope it’s behind me now. I’ve just been resting because that’s been the best way.

“I’ve been to see osteopaths and they’ve all said it’s on the up.

“I’m miles better than I was - I’ve gone from not being able to drive a car to a level where I could go on the pitch and have a jog around.

“It’s just getting the movements back that I need to get used to.

“As soon as I’m available, I’ll be out there.

“I think I killed myself a bit trying to play the other week and push myself through it.

“But it doesn’t work that way, you’ve got to get yourself right first.”

A sad end to the month

“We started off really well but it’s a sad end to the month where we’ve had two defeats on the bounce.

“I’m not sure what went wrong on Monday but we just looked very flat.

“I don’t know if Saturday’s game had any effect but that’s not the Halifax you’ve seen over the last few games.

“It’s only the first month of the season, you can’t get down about it. I think we’ve got a lot of potential in this team and we’ve had a few injuries, we’ve had Cliff Moyo suspended, that might have had a bit of a bearing, I don’t know.

“There’s definitely more positives than negatives, and you’ve got to stay positive or else you’ll get nowhere.

“We’ll pick the lads up in training and go from there - it’s not all doom and gloom.

“We’ve lost two games of football - since Billy came here, including pre-season, we’ve lost two games.

“The lads are disappointed after Monday, it wasn’t up to our standards at all.

“It was a very frustrating game but fair play to Harrogate, they’ve come and dominated the game.”

A test of character

“There’s nothing wrong at all with the atmosphere in the changing room, we’ve got a good set of lads.

“But we’ll see where it’s at now. This is where the test is when you’re down in the dumps and you want to pick yourself up.

“It’s fine when you’re flying high in the table but it’s a long season and you can’t get complacent at this level.

“We haven’t done that but we’ll see where we’re at now.

“But there’s enough quality and enough characters in there to bounce back.

“We’ve only lost a game of football. It happens.

“It’s disappointing but let’s hope we push on at Telford on Saturday and get something out of that.”
