Heavy snow and freezing temperatures in London meant The Hive failed to pass a pitch inspection this morning.

So Saturday’s home game with Dover will be Halifax’s first match in two weeks, with their rearranged home match against Hartlepool on February 2 also being called off.

“The weather’s horrible isn’t it so you’re not surprised,” Wild said of the Barnet postponement.

“It’s frustrating obviously, because we want to play, we want to get a run of games again.

“But I fully understand that it’s out of their control in terms of the weather so there’s nothing we can do about it.
The Barnet game is expected to now be played on Tuesday, February 16, four days before The Shaymen visit league leaders Torquay United.

“At the end of the day the fixtures are all over the place so it’s not just us, everybody’s got to deal with it at some point,” said Wild.

“It is what it is, we’ve just got to get our heads down and try to churn out results as much as possible.”
The Barnet postponement is one of several Town games to be rearranged this season either due to the weather or the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s frustrating for the staff because the Barnet prep started halfway through last week and you probably spend five, six days prepping it, making sure you, the players and everybody understands what’s going off, and then on the morning of the game it’s called off, it flattens you a little bit because of all the effort we’ve put in to make sure we’re bang on with everything,” said Wild.

“So it’s a flattener for the staff but it’s part of football, so all thoughts now turn to Dover on Saturday.

“That process has already started with the analysis team and I’ll pick my processes up in terms of that from today.”
Wild added: “We had a plan in place to train if it was off so because they’ve called it off so early we’ve been able to put in place a training plan.

“We’ll train today because we need to get the levels of the players back up so we need to have a tough day today and increase their levels ready for Saturday.

“It’ll be two tough days Tuesday and Thursday and then team prep on Friday ready for Dover on Saturday.”
