Kevin Roberts, Josh Wilde and Tom Denton scored for Town, who had Cliff Moyo sent-off, while defender Cieron Keane and striker Lee Hughes were dismissed for the visitors.

Heath said: “I don’t think the referee had any other option for any of the sendings-off.

“I didn’t see ours, even though it was five yards away from me, I’d turned away. But the boys have said it’s a red card.

“The most important thing is the three points. I thought we were absolutely superb. We were down to 10 for a long period before they had their men sent-off.

“We were magnificent and every player played their part and worked extremely hard.”

Heath was pleased with how his side played after Moyo’s dismissal.

“We didn’t want them to sit behind the ball and let Worcester dictate the tempo of the game,” he said.

“We were still trying to press and put them under pressure and we could have had a couple more goals in the first-half.

“I’m just really pleased for the boys because they’ve been working ever so hard all the way through pre-season and it’s days like these when you do have to dig in and three points is superb.”

The Town boss was surprised to see Roberts in the penalty box to score Town’s first.

He said: “The question is how has he popped up there? He’s supposed to be our holding midfield player!

“Kevin’s a fantastic player and it was a great finish.”

Heath felt Wilde’s goal was the crucial moment of the match.

He said: “It was a pivotal moment of the game - we’re still down to 10 and they’re pushing, they’ve had one or two half chances, although they’ve not had any clear ones.

“But then you get a break like that, but once again, it’s persistence to get the goal and not giving up on anything.

“I don’t think anyone can say we didn’t deserve the three points today.”
