FC Halifax Town: Woking preview

Halifax’s midweek win over Barrow in the FA Trophy was their seventh in 10 games under Harvey, with the transformation since he took charge lifting them out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.

Shaun Tuton netted his 12th goal of the season on Tuesday night, his ninth goal in 10 appearances since Harvey took charge.

Town last conceded a goal on the road in their 4-1 win at Gateshead on November 21, and have gone three hours and 20 minutes since they last let a goal in, although they still have the worst defensive record in the division.

But Woking may provide Harvey’s sternest test so far as Town boss, with The Cards winning nine of their last 11 games.

They have also scored 11 goals in their last three outings, including a hammering of Maidenhead in the FA Trophy last Saturday.

Only Grimsby, Cheltenham and Forest Green have won more home games in the league, while Woking have only failed to score once in their last 13 matches, with only Cheltenham and Grimsby scoring more league goals.

Nicky Wroe is set to return to the starting line-up in place of Connor Hughes after being forced to sit out the Barrow game as he wasn’t registered in time.

Woking won 3-0 at The Shay earlier this season, while Halifax have never won at match at Woking in their previous nine visits.

Only two players - Scott McManus and Kevin Roberts - are set to start on Saturday from the team that began Town’s 3-2 defeat at Woking on the final day of last season.
