Harrogate Town complete move for Alfreton Town striker Paul Clayton

Striker Paul Clayton signed a two-year deal at Harrogate Town yesterday after Alfreton Town agreed to release him from his contract.

Clayton has been on loan at Town since Christmas Eve, scoring four goals in 15 games.

He signed just in time for today’s non-league registration deadline.

The 30-year-old won two England C international caps whilst with Alfreton where he also won a Conference North title winners’ medal

Town boss Simon Weaver said: “It’s a great signing for us and I’m really pleased to have him on board.

“He has been integral to our recent upturn as a focal point in the number nine role.”

Louie Swain has also signed an extended deal at Town, keeping him at the club until May 2016.

Weaver confirmed teenagers Brad Walker and Rob Worrall were also registered yesterday, and could be handed debuts before the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Harrogate Railway have brought in former York City youngster Vincent Dhesi from Tadcaster Albion.

The talented forward has found himself out of the team at Tadcaster over recent weeks and

Railway boss Billy Miller said: “There’s no pressure on him. He can just come and enjoy this level of football.

“If he can find his feet, there’s no reason why he can’t push on from here.”
