Holders Ryburn head to Elland

Ryburn United have had another tough hurdle thrown in their path in their defence of the Halifax FA Saturday Cup.

Craig Walker’s side, who scored two late goals to beat fellow Halifax AFL Premier side Illingworth St Mary’s 2-1 in Saturday’s first round, are away to Ealandians next.

Their hosts, who play at Elland Cricket Club, are a Yorkshire Amateur League top flight side.

Ealandians beat Halifax Irish Club 5-2 in the first round and are capable of improving on their modest record in this competition.

Halifax AFL champions Calder ‘76 are also heading to Elland, to face Huddersfield Amateurs at Old Earth. West Yorkshire League side Amateurs were Saturday’s biggest first round winners, crushing Holmfield 14-1.

Another interesting inter-league match-up pits Brighouse Town’s development side with Warley Rangers.
