Irish pair maintain goalden form

Halifax Irish made it four wins out of five in the West Riding County Amateur League this season with a 6-1 thrashing of visitors Littletown on Saturday.

They were 3-1 up at half time and doubled their tally in the second half.

Ovenden West Riding were good value for a share of the spoils in a goalless draw at high-flying Steeton.

Both sides provided some good football on an excellent playing surface.

Steeton ‘keeper Wayne Mahomet kept out two Damian Randall efforts with outstanding saves.

With Lee Barker nullifying the threat of Steve Fullard and George Bamford, West Riding were subdued until George Fry and Scott Eastwood tested Mahomet,

Steeton threatened Chris Moroney’s goal with Andy King just firing wide, Fry hitting the woodwork in the 88th minute and Jordan Powell mis-hitting a chance from six yards, but overall a draw was a fair result.

Irish and Ovenden meet at Natty Lane on Wednesday.
