Leaders Brighouse held

Brighouse Town's four-match winning run was ended in a 1-1 home draw with Mossley yesterday.

It moved them three points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik NPL First Division table but second-placed Farsley Celtic have a game in hand.

Town had been expected to complete a double over Mossley, who they beat 4-0 in Greater Manchester on September 10.

They got off to just the start they had hoped for with a goal after six minutes.

Ruben Jerome was the scorer, cashing in on good work by Luke Parkin and Leon Osborne.

However, that was as good as it got for the leaders. Kyle McGonigle equalised for the visitors on 37 minutes and Brighouse struggled for another breakthrough in spite of changes form boss Paul Quinn.

Town return to knockout action for their next two games. They travel to Garforth in the West Riding Senior Cup on Tuesday and Witton Albion in the FA Trophy’s preliminary round on Saturday.
