A much-changed West Riding side, playing on a very soft surface, took the lead on 15 minutes when Glyn Beale opened the scoring from 10 yards. Minutes later a Damian Randall 20 yarder was too good for Sean Hodgson.

Overthorpe pulled a goal back through Kristian Angus but John Booth’s quick fire double put West Riding 4-1 up.

The visitors reduced the deficit through Elliot Brooks but Ovenden ran away with it after the interval. Booth added two more, Kevin Megson got on the score sheet and Randall added a solo goal.

Ovenden have two league games left of their comeback season but their main focus now will be the West Riding Trophy final against local rivals Sowerby Bridge at the county FA headquarters in Woodlesford, Leeds on Thursday, May 3.
