It was the second time the match was called off in four days.

In a statement, the club said the referee Thomas Bramall attended the ground at 3.30pm and deemed the pitch was playable.

But after a number of players were slipping on the surface in front of the Skircoat Stand, the referee called the game off after an impromptu pitch inspection at around 7.25pm, by which time hundreds of fans had entered the ground.

A date has not yet been set for the rearranged game, with the winners set to be at home to fellow National League side Maidenhead on Saturday, January 13.

If the Macclesfield game had ended as a draw, a replay would have taken place on Tuesday, January 9, which could now potentially be the date of the rearranged match.
