Town did the business in their relentless push for promotion and the NCEL Premier Division title title.

That was the main priority but the baying crowd wanted more goals after the first one went in after 13 minutes off the boot of leading goalscorer Tom Matthews.

It was all Town in the opening stages and just a matter of time before someone did find the back of the net.

Both Matthews, Jason Price and Ryan Hall had chances denied before a mistake by visiting keeper Haydn Green handed it to Matthews on a plate.

Only rarely did the Lincoln players make a foray into the Town half but at the other end wayward shooting or Green kept Town from adding to the scoreline.

Then in the 35th minute Leon Henry was brought down by Dom Sibiliski and the referee had no hesitation but to point to the penalty spot. Ernest Boafo buried the spot kick.

Defenders Adam Field, Chris Fisher and Sam Hewitt, in front of ‘keeper Jacob Giles, were enjoying plenty of leeway against a team who were finding it difficult to make headway through central defenders Sam Hewitt, Tyrone Gay and James Hurtley.

In the 44th minute Town went 3-0 up when Hurtley scored after an inswinging corner from Leon Henry.

Town didn’t find much in the final third to add to the score and when they did shoot on target it was either over the bar or Green was on his mettle.

With a view to a busy Easter weekend manager Paul Quinn made changes around the 60th and 65th minutes, first of all bringing off Matthews to replace him with the energetic Joe Jagger and skipper Henry to join him on the bench and be replaced by the equally skilful and sharp Luke Gibson. Then Price followed to allow youngster Brad Waddington valuable game time.

Ryan Hall covered some ground for Town and cut through the Lincoln defence like a knife through butter.

Goal number four came in the 82nd minute when Jagger forced home the ball after it arrived at his feet from Fisher.

Jagger could have added another two minutes later when well placed but he blasted over.
