Cooke, who scored the winner in last year’s FA Trophy final at Wembley against Gateshead, scored three goals in 23 league appearances last season and has signed a one-year contract with the option of a further year, the Courier understands.
"Take away the fact we want that kind of player in the squad - hard-working, energetic, impactful, committed - if we look at his perfomances and his stats, for a player of his age, it's phenomenal,” Millington said.
"If he was coming out of any other club, we'd be really interested in signing a player of his quality so the fact he's one of our own, it's even more important we keep hold of him."
