Wins for Ovenden and Irish

Ovenden West Riding got their home programme off to a winning start with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Lower Hopton in the Premier Division of the West Riding CA last night.

George Bamford gave them an ideal start with a fine fifth minute individual goal. Minutes later Steve Fullard made it 2-0.

Hopton came very much into an end to end encounter. West Riding missed a host of chances to run away with the contest before, on the hour mark. John Scoop pulled one back,

Ovenden weathered the expected Hopton onslaught and finished the game on top to give their new look side three points.

Halifax Irish also won 2-1, away to Golcar United, to make it two wins out of two at the start of their campaign.
