Wrexham v FC Halifax Town: Preview

The game will be Young’s first in charge after last Saturday’s home match with Dagenham and Redbridge was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Town go into the game with only one win in eight and just two wins in 20 league matches, while Wrexham are unbeaten in their last eight and have lost only once at home in the league all season.

Young, who was appointed as Halifax’s Head of Scouting last September, is a former boss at Wrexham’s bitter rivals Chester, and was last in the dugout for Altrincham’s 4-2 home defeat to Curzon Ashton on August 27, 2016.

His first team selection looks likely to be shorn of left-back Josh Wilde, who Young doesn’t expect to feature due to an on-going knee injury. But Young also said he was “virtually there” in terms of selecting his team and system to take on Wrexham.

Only Macclesfield have won more games in the National League this season than the Welsh side, who have the meanest defence in the league.

Dean Keates’ team have kept four clean sheets in their last five outings, and feature two former Halifax players in their squad in Scott Boden and Kevin Roberts.

The two teams drew 0-0 in the reverse fixture at The Shay back in October.
