Marsh’s mixed bag

Halifax-born Nick Marsh produced a real mixed bag to finish tied 23rd in the prestigious Brabazon Trophy at Notts Golf Club today.

Marsh shot 69 in his second and fourth rounds but the reigning English Amateur Champion also had a 75 and a 78 to scupper his hopes of success.

His three over par total of 291 was 10 more than winner Cormac Sharvin, who formed an Irish 1-2 with Gavin Moynihan in the battle for places in the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team for this September’s match.

A second Halifax-Huddersfield Union player, Jamie Bower (Meltham), shot 73 and 76, which left him just outside the top 60.
