Out in force at West End

Ninety six players took part in yesterday’s Huddersfield and Halifax Ladies Winter League fixture at Halifax West End.

The stableford competition over 18 holes took place in very calm, mild conditions.

Alison Tracey and Maxine Rowlands from Huddersfield GC were the winners with 40 points.

They won the last Winter Alliance, a nine-hole Tri-am at Longley Park in January, with another Fixby team mate.

Lightcliffe combinations took second and fifth positions. Countback was required to determine that Sarah Wickens and Helen Jaques were runners-up.

The Winter League is enjoying a revival in its 46th year with large entries from the 21 participating clubs. All this winter’s events have gone ahead.

The final fixture is an 18 hole stableford at Dewsbury on Wednesday, March 25.
