Luckless trio make the drop

Halifax Bowling League officials have had to relegate three extra teams to get a minimum of 10 teams in each of the six Wednesday divisions for next year.

The unlucky trio are Denholme, Sowerby T & BC A and Pellon B. They finished third-from-bottom of divisions three, four and five respectively.

The deadline for teams to enter was January 31 and league secretary Malcolm Edmondson was awaiting the outcome of a meeting to see if there would be an extra side.

That would have made organising the league easier, but it failed to materialise.

The six divisions now contain 12,11,10,10,10 and10 teams respectively.

Entries are being sought for Hove Edge BC’s Sheila Whiteley Open competition on Easter Monday. It has a limit of 64 places and has proved very popular over the years.

The Harold Club at Huddersfield Road,Bradford is taking entries for its John Smith’s-sponsored 2015 Easter Bash.

It takes place over the Easter weekend and carries total prize money of £4200 with the winner guaranteed a first prize of £1000.
