Edwards has joined a number of reknowned riders at the famous Phillip Island race circuit to win the International Island Classic event.

The race is specifically for motorcycles made before 1982.

Other teams were invited from the USA and New Zealand to compete for the coveted prize.

It is the first time that the Australian team has been beaten since they created the event ten years ago.

As part of the victorious six man UK team, Edwards was riding with TT road racing legends John McGuinness, Ryan Farquhar and Connor Cummins.

The team was completed by Jeremy McWilliams and Glen Richards.

Edwards said: “It’s simply just awesome to be invited to race at Phillip Island anyway, then chuck in racing alongside some motorcycle legends, and actually snatching the win from the Aussies in their own backyard - 2015 couldn’t have started much better.”
