Halifax Swimming Club’s Kershaw shines at British Trials
Halifax Swimming Club’s Charlie Kershaw showed his undoubted promise in the pool with eye-catching performances at the British Swimming Selection Trials.
The 18-year-old qualified for the prestigious event at London’s Aquatics Centre where the cream of British swimming, including Olympians Max Litchfield and Duncan Scott, were competing for honours and also catch the eye of Team GB selectors.
It was an outstanding achievement for the teenager to qualify but preparations for the biggest event in his career so far were not ideal.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Kershaw had limited access to training facilities in the build-up to his trip to London.
Nevertheless, he rose to the occasion and showed great strength and determination to produce a couple of outstanding swims in two individual medley events.
He finished 12th in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:08.22 and 11th in the 400m individual medley thanks to a time of 4:38.51.
