The 31-year-old Huddersfield Giants half-back has been told that his long-term mobility is at risk if he continues to play.

Robinson, who has coached at Halifax amateur club Siddal, has also played for Wigan, Castleford and Salford in a 14-year professional career.

He played six times for England and scored three tries.

Robinson, who faces surgery, admitted he had been shocked by the advice to quit and said that he wanted to continue working for the Giants in some capacity.
