Saxton, who won a Challenge Cup with Hull, has also played in Super League with Castleford, Wakefield and Salford.

The deal provides Fax boss Karl Harrison with backline cover in the absence of the injured Rob Worrincy, who is sidelined with a torn quadricep.

Saxton has been mainly utilised as a winger by Rovers, but can also play full back and is well known for his ability to offload the ball in contact.

A mainstay of Daryl Powell’s teams, Saxton has been one of a number of senior Rovers players apparently marginalised by new coach John Bastian, who opted for Will Sharp and Jamal Chisholm on the flanks in the win against Fax last weekend.
