Siddal back to winning ways

Siddal steadied their ship with a 20-6 win away to Skirlaugh in the top section of the National Conference League yesterday.

Gareth Greenwood’s side are top of the table but had been well beaten at home by Wath Brow Hornets the previous week.

They led by only 8-6 at half time in Hull but then pulled away with prop Iain Davies their star performer.

Stand off Shaun Garrod scored two tries with second rower Danny Williams getting the visitors’ other touch down. Scrum half Chris Brooke kicked four goals.

Calderdale’s Division Two pair, Elland and Ovenden, both suffered away defeats.

Elland remain second after an 18-10 loss at Askam, after trailing 12-10 at the break.

Loose forward Jack Fairbank was their best performer in Cumbria.

Centre Joe Worthington and replacement Jorge Fairbank got Elland’s tries, scrum half Phil Taylor kicking one goal.

Ovenden are fifth after a 29-10 defeat at Oldham St Annes.
