Members of Pendle Forest Orienteers were joined by ‘newbies’ from Todmorden for the event.

As the 2013 champion, it was Jack’s task to plan the route and host the event -quite a task for a 15 year old.

Helped by UCCA - the Upper Calder Charities Assist organisation, and local farmer Bruce Kenworthy who allowed use of his land for access and parking, some 30 members of PFO were joined by more than 10 local runners with ages ranging from eight to 40.

The Maude family were out in force, Jenna running with two sons and carrying baby!

All the specialist equipment was loaned by PFO and after a safety briefing, Jack joined runners to ensure there were no mishaps and offer help and guidance.

Despite the howling wind the weather remained dry and all competitors had a great time with many asking ‘when’s the next event?’.

The prize presentation was held at the Top Brink.
