Matthew unveils first exhibition ...

A Brighouse-based artist is set to unveil his first ever exhibition at Matthew's Coffee House Gallery in Cleckheaton.

Matthew Evans discovered an early flare for art, initially taking inspiration from local surroundings.

He showed a preference for buildings and landscapes and over the years his reputation as an artist has grown through exhibiting in numerous local shows, some nationals and the international “Europastel” Exhibition in Italy and Russia 2002.

“I have really enjoyed my career as an artist so far and have met many inspirational people throughout my involvement in various local Art Societies,” said Matthew.

“ I am currently joint vice President of the Huddersfield Art Society and hope this role will enable me to motivate others.”

He added: “I am constantly finding new inspiration, particularly in subjects rich in colour, light and texture.

“My favourite themes have ranged from atmospheric sunsets to bright floral scenes.
