Dancers set to put best foot forward at annual Roy Castle Tapathon

This weekend will see the return of the annual Tapathon at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax in aid of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Organised by Brighouse dance teacher Janet Austin the event invites dancers from across Calderdale and West Yorkshire to showcase their talents and raise money for charity.

2.15pm: Dance Arena Ballet and Stage School, Brighouse

Read: 21 ways that Halifax has changed since the year 2000Money raised from the event will go to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation which aims to provide help and hope to people affected by lung cancer.

The Tapathon has been taking place since 1997 and Janet took over organising the event nine years ago. She said: “At the event, dancers are encouraged to bring along family and friends to watch their performance, there is no charge for the audiences.

“It’s a lovely atmospheric day, everybody is buzzing and very supportive.”

The event will take place on Sunday, January 26 at North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax.
