Letter: We need a scheme to match needs

The proposed redevelopment of the Northgate House site was poorly thought through, leading to a plan which proved uninteresting to potential retailers.

The plans are now in tatters. We are not a regional shopping destination and never will be.

Play to the strengths we have, aim to be a cultural, leisure and, yes, a mixed retail destination embracing our national stores whilst championing our strong independent offer.

Hopefully we can now have a scheme which matches our needs.
