With the help of Tatra Plastics Manufacturing, the team spent ten days climbing the Tatra mountains in Eastern Europe that divide the Czech Republic and Poland.

They stayed in the mountain range, which the company is named after and is the birthplace of the company founders Tom Freud and “Tom” Czerniawski, walking across the peaks and ridges approximately 10-12 km per day, via Rysy, the highest point in Poland, staying overnight in mountain huts and covering approximately 90 km (55m) all together.

The group of 13-19 year olds from Mixenden, near Halifax, is hoping to have a presentation night on October 7 to show slides, tell stories and thank everyone who has supported the group.

On the way back from Poland, they visited the concentration camps at Auschwitz, which was very reflective and emotional, and on their last day visited the salt mines, sampled local foods and culture and had a celebration meal in Krakow square.

Expedition leader Marcus Irving said: “I cannot say thank you enough to Tatra Plastics for their much appreciated help and support.”
