'I can't remember the last time I had any post': Courier readers share their frustration at postal delays
Exasperated Halifax Courier readers have been sharing the problems they have been having with significantly late post.
Long waits for bank cards and important letters about hospital appointments are among the issues reported in response to a story we ran earlier this week about some residents going days – sometimes weeks -without any mail.
One reader posted: “We get post every three to four weeks – a huge stack through the letterbox.”
Another said: “My son's birthday is in June and a couple of friends who live in different places away from Halifax sent him cards a fortnight early first class and they were still late getting delivered. He was upset because he thought they'd forgotten him.”

One posted: “Just got our mail today after two weeks – 13 items.”
Another posted: “I missed surgery as my letter turned up after the appointment."
One said: “I haven’t had anything for weeks, still waiting for letters that were sent out over two weeks ago!”
One posted: “I went to the sorting office on Saturday to collect my post as I was expecting some important letters and no post for three weeks. The queues said it all and everyone in that queue was collecting their post too.”
Another posted: “I am waiting on documents that I need, and a bank card. No post now for eight working days.”
And one said: “I can't remember the last time I had any post its been that long. Get your Christmas cards posted in October everyone.”
As reported earlier this week, Halifax’s MP Kate Dearden is pledging to tackle the issue.
"This is simply not good enough,” she said. “That’s why I have raised these failings directly with Royal Mail and demanded action.
"As the newly appointed minister responsible for postal services, I will not shy away from holding Royal Mail to account for its failures.
"I will make sure the voices of Halifax residents are heard as we work to secure a better postal service for the whole of Britain.”
Many, including Ms Dearden, are keen to stress they do not believe the issue is with postmen and women.
