'Not to be missed' Halifax pub named one of the best in country
It has long been a firm favourite in Halifax but now a popular pub is gaining much wider recognition.
The Big Six Inn, in Savile Park, has been named as one of the best 500 pubs in the UK by a national newspaper.
To make The Telegraph’s shortlist, taverns needed "charming character, welcoming staff, rich history and award-winning beer”.
Also included were The Three Pigeons, on the edge of Halifax town centre, and The Cross Keys in Siddal.

The reviewer who visited the Big Six said: “Some pubs have got the chat, and the Big Six Inn is one of them.
"Discussion ranges from curry to Leeds United to Ralph Fiennes.
"If that’s not enough, the building itself is a delight – a series of rooms on a terraced Halifax street. Not to be missed.”
The Big Six’s owners James Kirkham, from Skircoat Green, and David Briggs, from Savile Park, took on the pub in 2021 having been drinking there themselves for 30 years.

James said they were particularly pleased the reviewer seemed to capture what they have always felt makes the pub special.
"As owners, we've always tried to preserve the Big Six as a traditional, independent community pub — somewhere built around conversation and people rather than trends — so it's particularly rewarding to have that recognised by a national newspaper,” he said.
Last year the Big Six was ranked among the top 100 bars across the continent by the European Bar Guide.
The pub has also enjoyed fame as one of the filming locations for film The Choral, starring Ralph Fiennes, Mark Addy and Roger Allam.
