Plans for up to 120 new homes on Calderdale village fields
A Calderdale village could see up to 120 new homes built on some of its fields.
Proposals have been drawn up for the site to the south of Saddleworth Road in Greetland.
A hybrid planning application for the development of the homes, landscaping, and associated infrastructure, which includes full details for the development of 81 of the homes, has been submitted to Calderdale Council.
The Newett Homes development – named Cherry Tree Lane – would see the houses built where there are currently four small fields and a caravan park.

According to supporting statements, the plans are for a “sustainable and accessible residential development”.
"Our vision is for a landscape driven community that addresses local demand for high quality homes,” says a design and access statement.
"Attractive homes in keeping with the local vernacular will have pleasant views over the rolling landscape creating a seamless harmony between the built environment and its surroundings.”
The site has been allocated for housing in Calderdale’s Local Plan.
"The number of homes being proposed is entirely in-keeping with the site’s individual characteristics and the character of the wider area,” says a planning statement.
The proposed homes will be set back from Saddleworth Road, adds the statement, and the proposed layout has been led by the retention of existing green corridors which run through the site.
Of the 81 homes described in more detail in the application, 18 will be two-bed, 26 will be three-bed, 35 will be four-bed and two will be five-bed.
The planning statement adds: “The number, tenure, and mix of affordable homes will be discussed with the council over the course of the planning application process.”
People have until Thursday, November 12 to share their views on the application via the planning portal on Calderdale Council’s website.
