Look out for the Red Arrows at Elland vintage event

There will be a special flyover from the Red Arrows at Elland’s first vintage event today (Sunday).

The Rotary Club of Elland has been planning the showpiece event for the past year and it’s hoped it will become an annual success.

Visitors to the event will be treated to a fly-past from the Red Arrows, followed by a Lancaster Bomber from the Battle of Britain memorial flight.

The Red Arrows fly-past will be at around 2.50pm. and the Lancaster will fly over at 3.17pm.

David Wilkinson, president of the Rotary Club of Elland, said: “The club has never had what could be called a signature event where it can engage with the community, where local people and Rotarians can come along and enjoy themselves whilst also supporting worthy causes.

“Our vintage weekend will give Elland and its community an annual event to be proud of and we hope it will grow year on year. Hebden Bridge has a Classic Car Weekend, and Brighouse has a 1940s Weekend, Sowerby Bridge has a Classic Bike Show and now Elland has its vintage weekend.”

There will also be a vintage fair which will be open from 10am until 5pm at Elland Cricket Club, where there will be stalls, a full scale model Spitfire, a classic show with cars, bikes, buses, lorries and military vehicles, plus fairground rides and a miniature steam railway.

The day will end with a golf ball drop.
