Brighouse's Thornton Square gradually opens up to pedestrians as work continues on major project
Thornton Square in Brighouse is gradually opening up to pedestrians following major works as part of the Town Deal.
Work has been taking place since the start of the year to improve the town centre including creating wider footways, street planting and new on street parking, loading and disabled bays.
Back in September the first phase of works began to be completed with the western loop opening up to traffic.

Work will continue on the next phase of the project.
Brighouse Town Deal shared: “Work is continuing in Brighouse town centre with the western loop now open, and Thornton Square progressively opening up for pedestrian use.
"The final stages of work in the square, including the rain garden planting area – designed to collect, filter and dispose of rainwater to help reduce flooding from heavy rain, are due to complete and the square fully re-open later this month.
“On Ship Street, the granite paving is being installed alongside work progressing on Bethel Street between Market Street and Park Street. This will extend to the rest of Bethel Street and the Car Park next month.

"Further updates on the timing of this and what it means for traffic movements will follow soon.
“Throughout the works, every shop, venue and business is accessible to pedestrians and open as usual.”
