The campaign was a response to footballer Marcus Rashford’s free school meals, before MPs voted down proposals to extend the initiative across the half-terms and the Christmas holidays.

Steve Duncan, CEO of the Community Foundation for Calderdale, said: “We launched the ‘Never Hungry Again’ campaign and with £15,000 being pledged, we have already raised over £20,000.

"This is a cause close to our hearts and the appeal to donors has been to help children. Also whatever they donate, we’re match funding. If someone donates £75, we donate £75 so £150 goes into the fund, which is sent as grants to food banks and agencies.

“Our future plans are to continue to support frontline charities.”

Over the past 30 years, the Foundation have given out over £30 million of grants - and will continue to be there, not just when our community is facing a crisis, but beyond that.”
