Brighouse beaten on east coast

Brighouse Town were unable to banish their relegation fears in Evo-Stik North yesterday when they lost 4-0 away to Scarborough Athletic on the east coast.

Although buoyed by a 1-0 home win over Mossley on Monday, they were no match for hosts who went second in the table.

Vill Powell’s men fell behind to a 13th minute Michael Coulson goal. Coulson added a second from the penalty spot on 62 minutes and James Walshaw and Jorome Slew added to the home tally in the last 10 minutes.

Bottom side Goole won 2-1 at Clitheroe to narrow the gap between themselves and Brighouse to seven points but they have only three games left.

It means Town, who have four fixtures remaining, can send Goole down with a home win over Clitheroe on Monday.
