"It's something we'll look at," says Town boss McGrath on Derby midfielder's loan deal

Town boss John McGrath says he would like to extend midfielder Cruz Allen's loan spell at the club.

Allen is on a month's loan from Derby County and has made four appearances for Town, scoring in the 3-0 win against Wolves in the National League Cup.

"That's something we're going to speak to Derby about," said McGrath on the loan deal, which is thought to expire after Halifax's game at Worthing later this month.

"I think he's enjoyed it, I've enjoyed having him here, he's played some good minutes of his first loan.

"They speak really highly of him and they think really highly of him so for them to trust us in his development is brilliant.

"So it's something we'll look at."

On any further possible ins and outs in his squad, McGrath said: "I'm always looking to make the squad better.

"There are some players that might need some game time but the way the group is, I've got to be really precise with who I bring into that group.

"They've got to be right footballing wise but also personality wise.

"If anybody goes out, it's simply just to get games.

"You saw on Saturday the importance of a good bench, bringing on the players we did. It's really good to look behind you when you've got those quality of players in reserve."

Defender Ash Palmer, who was on loan at Town last season, has been told he is free to find a loan move away from York City after being excluded from the Minstermen's registered Football League squad.

"He's one that's on the radar," McGrath said.

"We know of Ash and his situation but we keep an eye on everybody who's available and whether it's right financially and for the group.

"If there's any player out there that can make us better, I'll definitely have a look at him."
