Brighouse Town made some amends for their second half horror show against Witton nine days earlier when they beat Scarborough Athletic 2-1 at Hove Edge yesterday.

They needed an 85th minute winner from Adam Wilson to get the better of east coast opponents who played the last 20 minutes with 10 men.

It was stalemate in the first half but Town, who had lost 5-1 to Witton, took the lead three minutes after the break when Athletic’s Peter Davidson put the ball in his own net from a Tom Haigh cross.

The visitors’ Matthew Bloor received a straight red but that didn’t stop his side equalising two minutes later through Jamie Forrester.

However, Wilson had the decisive say from 12 yards in a scramble following a corner.

Brighouse, whose game at Ossett Albion on Boxing Daqy had been postponed, moved up to eighth in Division One North of the Northern Premier.

Their next game is at Lancaster City on Saturday. Lancaster are 12th after a 3-2 win at Prescot Cables yesterday.
