Cheeky Blinders shock opponents with sensational trophy victory
They may have finished bottom of the Todmorden and District Evening League this season, but Cheeky Blinders produced a sensational cup shock when they saw off all the competition to scoop the Dearden Trophy.
The all-women team were formed only four years ago when the group of beginners attended the Todmorden Bowls Academy at Centre Vale Park.
Going up against more experienced teams in the league this year has failed to deter the side, despite ending the season bottom of the table with two wins from their 16 matches.
And it was in this season’s knockout handicap cup competition that Cheeky Blinders really shone.

In the quarter-finals, they saw off Hare and Hounds 262-220 before defeating Walsden B 235-200 in the last four.
The odds were stacked against Cheeky Blinders in the final, where they faced Wardle, who finished third in the league this season.
However, the ladies dug deep in a match that went down to the final end and triumphed 210-202 to spark wild celebrations on the green.
