Harriers’ juniors lead the way in Race You to the Summit race

Halifax Harriers’ senior and junior runners took to the misty moors to compete in the Race You to the Summit fell race.

The seniors faced a route of four-and-a-half miles long, running straight up to The Whitehouse pub, before turning round and back down to the start at The Summit Inn in Littleborough.

Lee Cattermole was the first Harrier home in a time of 41:11 and Stefanie Dickinson led the club’s women back, crossing the line in an impressive 45:49.

Harriers’ juniors Elsie Truesdale and Milo Seal were both triumphant in their races, with Elsie winning the U10s and Milo leading the way in the U12s.

Further afield, Jonny Lister was among the 20,000 runners who started the Frankfurt Marathon, one of the biggest events in Europe.

Lister, who has recently completed the Six-Star Challenge and clocked finish times in six of the eight Abbott World Majors, went into this race well prepared and raring to go.

Weather conditions were less than ideal in Germany with heavy rain throughout the day but Lister paced himself metronomically to record an impressive finish time of 3:25:13.

Also taking on a marathon challenge was John Moore, who completed the New York Marathon in six hours 38 minutes.
