Top bluesman in town

One of the founding members of the Notting Hillbillies, Steve Phillips is descibed in many quarters as one of Europe's most impressive Blues performers.

And the great news is that Steve and his band the Rough Diamonds are heading to The Gun Dog in Halifax for a gig on November 11.

He cut his teeth listening to the likes of Snooks Elgin, Robert Johnson, Blind Blake and a host of other country bluesmen.

In the 60s he met with a young guitarist Matk Knopfler - a junior reporter at the time on the Yorkshire Evening Post and sold him his National Style O guitar which became an iconic image on the cover of the multi-million selling Brothers In Arms.

The gig starts at 8.30pm. Tickets at £10 and more detail from Geoff Amos on 07876504140.
