Blaze at Ash Green Community School being treated as arson attack

An investigation is underway at a primary school in Halifax after one of its buildings was destroyed in a fire

The fire took place last night (Monday) at around 10pm at Ash Green Community Primary School in Clough Lane.

Head teacher Mungo Sheppard said the incident is terribly sad news and it has had a knock on effect for children and parents.

Officers attended the school and the fire is now being treated as arson.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "We were called at 10.27pm on Monday by the fire service to report of a gazebo being deliberately set on fire in the grounds of a school on Mixenden Road.

"Enquiries remain ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1806 of 19/11."
