Coun Tim Holden, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services, said: “We are delighted that Calderdale has been recognised among the top 25 places in England for children and young people in the Children’s Commissioner’s Childhood Lottery report.

“This reflects the dedication of partners across Calderdale who work every day to help children and young people thrive.

“While we know there is always more to do, this recognition shows the positive difference being made through our focus on early help, strong partnerships, improving opportunities, supporting vulnerable children and listening to the voices of our young people.

“We are proud to be one of only three northern authorities featured in the top 25.

“We are determined to build the work we do with partners, families and communities to ensure every child and young person in Calderdale has the best possible start in life.”

The report’s findings were based on 162 metrics, including health, family, schools, jobs and skills, care, leisure and youth services, and more.
