Squash starlet Lani crowned British U9s champion

Halifax’s Lani Campion has been crowned British Girls U9s squash champion after a stellar performance in Sheffield.

The eight-year-old Greetland Academy student, who is also the England number one in her age group, won 3-0 in all of her matches to romp to glory.

The title comes hot on the heels of her recent victory in the North East Aspire U11s Championship and is another success story for the youngster, who plays and trains at Queens Sport and Fitness Club.

Not to be outdone by her younger sister, Afia Campion produced a superb performance in the U13s category.

Afia turned 11 years-old only two weeks ago but was unfazed by the step up in age category, competing against older and more experienced players, and claimed an excellent 11th place finish.

Afia, who is the Yorkshire U12s champion and former England U11s number one, is also a product of the Queens club, where the successful junior squash programme continues to produce the squash stars of the future.

The programme welcomes children, whatever their age, experience, or ambition. The progressive development pathway supports every stage of their journey, from building confidence and fundamental skills to competing at county, regional, and national level.
