Whitehouse to make Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow
Halifax Olympic gymnast Luke Whitehouse has been officially selected to represent Team England at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The selection marks another significant milestone for the world silver medallist and four-time European champion, who will be making his highly anticipated Commonwealth Games debut alongside Great Britain team mate, Britain’s most decorated gymnast Max Whitlock, who recently came out of retirement.
Also in the team are Adam Tobin, Josh Nathan and Alex Yolshin-Cash.
Whitehouse was recently featured in the official Generation Glasgow documentary series for the Commonwealth Games, which tracked his elite training, home life, preparations and his aspirations in gymnastics.

Whitehouse is excited to be competing in the games, saying: “The Commonwealths are a big feature in the sporting calendar in Britain and only every four years, so to be selected to be part of one of the largest multi sport events in the world is great.
"My only disappointment is that I will not have the opportunity to defend my European title in Croatia for a third time. It was agreed, due to the proximity of the events in the calendars, the Great Britain men would only compete at one of the two events.
"The Commonwealth Games, for me, is a great opportunity to win another international title and the chance to compete in what are anticipated to be capacity crowds at the Emirates Arena. The buzz that will bring, alongside the focus on the gymnastics at the games will be fantastic.”
The Commonwealth games in Glasgow will host 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories from the six continents, representing 2.7 billion people.
The 10 events will take place across the city including the prestigious athletics, gymnastics and swimming events, alongside track cycling, boxing, judo, weightlifting, bowls and 3x3 basketball.
