New ticket record as megastars head to Halifax for epic summer of music
The Piece Hall is all set to welcome some of the biggest stars in music for a record-breaking summer of gigs.
This year’s Live at The Piece Hall has smashed box office records, with 215,000 tickets sold already for the series of concerts – over 30,000 more than at this point last year.
More shows will be held there than ever before – 42 in total – starting on Saturday night with a sold-out concert from Shed Seven.
Running until the end of August, the series will bring huge acts to our town including Tom Jones, James Taylor, The Beach Boys, McFly, Tom Grennan, Billy Ocean and Madness.

It is also set to bring visitors from across the country and the world, boosting the local economy.
Maksut Yumusak, one of the team of brothers who owns restaurant La Luna, said the concerts usually bring a flurry of extra bookings and they are hoping to see the same this summer.
Nicky Chance-Thompson, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the positive impact the gigs have on the region.

"The Live at series has helped make Calderdale cool, fostered a renewed sense of civic pride in the town and the thousands of extra visitors bring a vital boost to local businesses.”
Peter Taylor, co-founder of co-promoters Cuffe and Taylor, added: “To sell more than 200,000 tickets for the first time – and achieve this ahead of the opening night – shows The Piece Hall is one of the most important and prestigious open air music venues not only in the UK, but Europe and beyond.”
