Calderdale park hit by “mindless” vandalism again
Damage has been reported at a Calderdale park which has been targeted by vandals numerous times since it reopened.
Large parts of Wellholme Park in Brighouse were closed for two years for flood alleviation work before reopening in July.
Since then, it has been the target of several incidents of vandalism, including fires, and damage to the walls and stairs leading to the Rose Garden.
The latest incident took place last weekend, when the walls and stairs leading to the Rose Garden were damaged again.

It comes less than three weeks after the same wall was damaged.
Posting on Facebook at the weekend, the community group Friends of Wellholme Park said: “This is upsetting, not only for us but for the community as a whole and our council contacts who work so hard to repair the previous damage.
“Not to mention the further cost to the tax payer – diverting funds needed elsewhere.
“The mindless acts of a small group have this morning turned our happiness into sadness.”
The damage has since been reported and Calderdale Council has installed barriers around the damage to keep the public safe while repairs are carried out.
One stairway leading to the Rose Garden is consequently out of use for the time being.
